Christopher Lawrence

www.christopherlawrence.com

Christopher Lawrence has returned from Burning Man festival in Nevada, which he describes as the "greatest experience of my life".

Burning Man is a week long arts based festival in the Nevada desert where 50,000+ people come together in a temporary community called Black Rock City. There are no rules, no money, no commercial enterprise - just the freedom to express yourself.

You can find anything you need in this temporary city which pulsates 24/7. There are 50,000 people riding bikes around the desert, mutant neon art cars, massive art installations, theme camps, amazing costumes, free bars, nightclubs, circuses, roller rinks, spiritual temples, a post office, even a temporary airport.. you name it!

The Opulent Temple is a San Francisco based self funded collective of Burning Man enthusiasts who build a large scale art and sound camp complete with flame throwers, massive visuals screens and top shelf sound which booms across the open desert. DJs play for free.

Christopher Lawrence played the Opulent Temple stage on Saturday September 1st to a massive crowd who gathered following the official Burning of the Man. Other artists who have played the Opulent Temple stage include Tiesto, Paul Oakenfold, Lee Coombs, Gabriel & Dresden, Sandra Collins, DJ Dan and Rabbit in the Moon to name a few.

Christopher says "I would give up ten Winter Music Conferences for one Burning Man. If you miss out on going to Burning Man, you will miss out on one of life's greatest experiences. Hopefully I’ll see you there in 2008".

Rene Amesz

Only few people have been displaying the manical approach towards beats like Rene Amesz has the last ten years or so. His unique and dirty sound has been destroying speakers all over the world and it looks like he has found his sound he’s been looking for over the last decade. It takes skills and determination to do what Rene has done, most visions only get understood when the final product is there.
Maybe his early career as a football player had something to do with it, combined with the fact he’s from Rotterdam, people don’t moan there, get yourself together and work hard to get out there! Young Rene had it all with football and was considered one of those who would end up in the A-team of Rotterdam’s finest, Feyenoord or Sparta. A talented player who had to give up because of a nasty injury but that didn’t stop him from taking a change in aiming at a different career which resulted in what he is today.

Rene’s first success came under different names, producing records for Mid-Town Records in Rotterdam. It wasn’t enough for Rene as he kept waking up in the middle of night where he could hear his own sound, all based around phat beats, sick grooves and a unique approach towards arrangements and sounds. He decided to do things different and slowly he managed to create an environment that could create his visions. He teamed up with Peter Gelderblom, who’d by that time already made a name for himself as club and shop owner and dj/producer in his hometown of Rotterdam. Together they’ve been responsible for tracks such as “ Strike Me Down” on Wally Lopez’s La Factoria Records, the mighty “You Make Me Climb The Wall” on Little Mountain Recordings and remixes for Danny Tenaglia, Tom Stephan, D. Ramirez and Mark Night to name a few.

Meanwhile he’d already met the guys from Extrema Music in Holland in the summer of 2004 who believed in Rene’s determination and approach which resulted in a couple of releases that slowly unraffeled the new Rene with releases such as his first EP on Deep Focus called “Courisha” and the breathtaking “I like Sex”, 4 originals that made people sit up and take notice of his sound which was in the early spring of 2005. Other releases that carved his niche were “I’ve been away” on Lowriders Rec and “I’m your Doctor” on Nu Republic that introduced Rene’s sleazy style to bigger masses during 2005.

Things went fast from that onwards. Sander Kleinenberg’s imprint Little Mountain successfully released the fierce “Back into the Funk” and lately we’ve seen a bunch of amazing releases coming out on labels such as La Factoria, Stereo productions, Extrema, DK records and Deep Records with remixes planned for Nic Fanciulli, Jamie Anderson, Muzzaik and Lexicon Avenue. He’s completed a bunch of new tracks that will showcase another step forward in his sound and will set up his own label together with Peter Gelderblom, called 25 Hertz Recordings.

Success is slowly but steadily glooming for Rene after all the hard work he’s done. His dj diary is filling up with good gigs, the ones that appreciate sore muscles the next day because of dancing all night, after all, it’s all about that, ain’t it? Next to that it looks he’s moving into new waters with his productions as more and more the bigger labels and topjocks are requesting his music. Looks like Rene will have his career after all!

SCOTT BRADFORD August 31, 2007

SCOTT BRADFORD - LEXICON AVENUE/SHINDIG/FORENSIC RECORDS

EXPLORING the deeper, darker reaches of the house music spectrum, Lexicon Avenue's Scott Bradford has forged a rock-solid reputation as a DJ who never fails to deliver.
From London to Lisbon, Toronto to To
kyo, and South America to Singapore, the affable spinner is regarded as one of the most consistent performers around.
Promoter and resident DJ at Shindig, one of the UK's most revered and longest-running nights, his vision and determination ensure the biggest and best names grace the decks on a weekly basis.
Now residing at Newcastle's impressive Digital, the weekly event’s success was instrumental in the venue securing the accolade of being named one of the 15 best clubs in the world by DJ Magazine in February 2007 - with the publication hailing it as "The Fabric of the North".
Widely regarded as both an institution and an inspiration, Shindig remains committed to serving up cutting edge sounds while also providing a platform for the most promising emerging talent.

After beginning his DJing career with slots at parties across the North East of England in 1989, Scott teamed up with friend and fellow turntable talent, Scooby, to launch the night at Club Afrika in 1992.
Its success snowballed and the pair decided to relocate to the city’s Riverside venue (later renamed Foundation). Continuing to go from strength to strength as word spread both home and abroad, it scooped Muzik magazine’s hotly-contested award for Best Underground Club Night in 2001.
By this time, Scott had already begun furthering his standing on the global dance music scene as one-third of the prolific Lexicon Avenue, teaming up with production partners Chris Scott and Mark Armstrong.
A formidable force in the development of UK house music since the late 90s, they launched their own label, Forensic, which soon gained immense international respect.
Expertly crafted to create maximum impact on the dancefloor, Lexicon Avenue’s tracks are fixtures in the sets of A-List DJs such as John Digweed, Deep Dish, Satoshi Tomiie, Danny Howells and Sander Kleinenberg.
They’ve been released on some of house music’s most influential imprints - including Yoshitoshi, Saw Recordings, Renaissance, Junior Boy’s Own and Hooj - as well as being licenced to leading compilations such as the Global Underground and Balance se
ries.
Their success means Scott is in demand across the globe, regularly rocking world famous clubs like Pacha in Ibiza, Zouk in Singapore, Trilogy in Dubai, and Womb in Japan. Closer to home, Renaissance and Turnmills welcome him on to the decks on a frequent basis.
Such is Lexicon Avenue’s popularity, the trio were chosen to go head-to-head with Dave Seaman to mix the third installment of the Therapy Sessions compilation series. Released in October 2006 on Seaman’s own Audio Therapy label, they blended techier, electro-influenced cuts from Ame, Plastikman and Nick K, attracting a host of rave reviews.
Their fans had been eagerly waiting a follow up to their debut CD which hit the shelves in 2002 as part of NRK’s critically-acclaimed nite:life series.
In 2003, Scott seized the opportunity to put his club night centre stage with the Adventures of Shindig CD, before returning in 2004 with Forensic Science Exhibit A - featuring the finest selections from his own imprint’s back catalogue alongside a handful of prev
iously unreleased exclusives.
His production work is not just restricted to Lexicon Avenue though and along with production partner Chris Scott he has cast his spell using an almost dizzying array of monikers including Little Green Men, New Phunk Theory, Third Movement, Fishead (with Satoshi Tomiie), and Bush People (with Mark Armstrong and Mara‘s Barry Gilbey). Scott also has a brand new production project with fellow Shindig resident, Mark Lowry.
Scott's and his production partners remix credits read like a Who’s Who of the biggest names in house music with Danny Tenaglia, John Creamer and Stephane K, Dirty Vegas and Science Department all being given their trademark dancefloor-friendly treatment.
Depeche Mode, Chab, Habersham, and Seal can also be added to the impressive list which continues to grow at a rapid rate.
Capitalizing on this popularity, Scott and Mark Armstrong record their own monthly radio shows which are regularly broadcast on stations worldwide including Argentina, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Greece and Lithuania.
Scott also regularly contributes guest mixes for John Digweed’s Kiss FM show, and in October 2006 he featured alongside Pete Tong on Radio One’s Essential Mix which was broadcast live from Shindig.
A regular on the station over the years, he’s been championed numerous times by Pete Tong, Danny Rampling and Seb Fontaine.

And so there we have it. Over the last decade-and-a-half, through Shindig, Forensic Records, Lexicon Avenue and numerous other production guises, Scott Bradford has carved out an enviable position as a DJ you can trust - a DJ who speaks the language of the dancefloor.

Juliana Lee with Jesse Cash August 24, 2007

Juliana Lee (aka: Juliana Leigh and LoveJules) is no stranger to the KUCI airwaves, returning for an anticipated fourth appearance.
She began DJing almost a decade ago, and in the late 90's, landed a residency at one of Los Angeles' longest running underground afterhours, the infamous 'Insomnia'.
It's where Lee developed her unique style that fueled the dark, packed, gritty dance floor. Her sets lasted well into the morning hours, until owners nearly pulled the plug on the sweaty crowd, and the eager DJ who would never lose the feeling of being so fortunate to be behind the decks playing the music she loved. Her relentless sets captivated countless crowds - full of powerful, bold tracks driven by chunky base lines, meshed with layered mixes and deep grooves.
The headlining DJ in July 2004, Juliana Lee played for sold out shows, radio and TV appearances for Transonik's California Sessions in Chile, South America.
Other notable gigs throughout the years include the Miami Winter Music Conference, Las Vegas' Club Ice, and The Mor Bar.
In 2005 Juliana Lee played several of her largest gigs at LA's, Club Spundae with its massive dance floors; once part of the memorable "Beauty and The Beats," an all-female DJ, highly publicized event.
Her public sets are rare nowadays, Lee mainly plays at home or for close friends at small gatherings. Recently, she made a short cameo appearance on the Standard hotel's rooftop in downtown LA earlier this Summer.
Lee is happy and peaceful now, living in Santa Monica with her boyfriend, and their two zany Dalmatians.

He was fortunate enough to be VIP back in the
days of the legendary Simons club in Gainesville,
Florida, standing right next to DJs like Danny
Tenaglia and John Digweed and Sasha, while they blew
up the dancefloor during their first visits to the
states.
Jesse Cash started off with the right roots and the
right people.
He’s been buying vinyl ever since and 15 years later
brings a bag of ridiculous tracks anywhere he assaults
the decks.
From countless underground parties, to rocking
Spundae, the Standard rooftop or broadcasting live
worldwide from the WOMB in Miami’s South Beach,
Jesse’s proven he can really throw it down and give
you something you’ve likely never heard before that
you won’t soon forget.

DJ DE LEON

Argentina-born De Leon has
emerged as a powerhouse DJ, blending his unique brand of body-shakin'
House rhythms and a kinetic crowd connection to mesmerizing effect. His
magnetic appeal quickly propelling De Leon to headlining performances
at top venues from Hollywood to New York to the distant shores of
Thailand. Forging a maverick career as DJ, music producer, event
promoter and filmmaker (one of the youngest feature film producers in
history, he had his debut at the prestigious 1997 Sundance Film
Festival)--De Leon is a creative force who is bending genre, breaking
the rules and bringing it all together with an eye towards what's next.

De Leon's DJ sets bridge latin-inspired rhythm and progressive House
with powerful baselines, thunderous tribal kicks, unforgettable
electronic melodies and hypnotic vocals to create experiences that are
both magically appealing and all his own. His trademark "De Leon
Experience" tears up dancefloors and crushes expectations, leaving in
it's wake a trail of melodies and memories that keep winning over new
fans long after the night has ended.

In the tradition of DJ's such as Danny Tenaglia, Victor Calderone and
Chus & Ceballos, De Leon's unique and uplifting sound style
connects intrinsically with the very broadest of audiences. The nature
of his crossover style highlighted by commercial sensibilities has
built a career working with leading mainstream events and commercial
dance brands such as AVALAND @ AVALON HOLLYWOOD, SUPERBOWL XL
(Detroit), KBIG 104.3 (LA), ENERGY 92.7 (SF) and XM RADIO (Thump
Radio)--and also with the hottest LGBT dance massives such as Jeffrey
Sanker's WHITE PARTY in Palm Springs, CHERRY in Washington DC and
NATION in Thailand; a rare feat shared only by a handful of DJ's.

A defining residency with the trailblazing event LATTITUDE in Los
Angeles (AVALON-Hollywood, IVAR-LA, 4TH&B-SanDiego, Winter
Music Conference Miami) a promotion which he co-founded with Alexander
Catala, and having performed alongside legendary artists such as
TIESTO, SASHA, THE BLACK EYED PEAS, VICTOR CALDERONE EVOLVE, SANDRA
COLLINS, CHUS & CEBALLOS, D-FORMATION and SAEED YOUNAN; while
holding a 3 year residency with OUT MAGAZINE's OUTLOUNGE series of
hosted celebrity events for VH1/MTV Networks, Michael Kors, the Oxygen
Network, Tori Spelling and others. In 2006, his charitable work for
teen suicide hotline THE TREVOR PROJECT, spinning a series of
high-profile pool parties benefitting the organization, generated tens
of thousands of dollars in donations and ranks as one of TREVOR
PROJECT's most successful fundraising events ever.

Not only adept in front of a live audience, De Leon's latest original
studio production "Show You", a breakout collaboration with dj/producer
FINBARR MASSI and original vocalist BREATHWAITE, is being released
MARCH 2007 by STEREO PRODUCTIONS' IBERICAN Records. MASSI & DE
LEON's new remix of PEDRO DIAZ - THIS IS THE SOUND is out now on

CHRISTOPHER LAWRENCE

Christopher Lawrence
Fresh from taking fourth place in the DJ Magazine’s highly coveted ‘Top 100’ poll in 2006, on March 19th American superstar DJ Christopher Lawrence dons his thermals, downs his vodka and joins forces with Sheffield clubbing institution Gatecrasher, for the release of their phenomenal ‘Live In Moscow’ compilation.

'Live In Moscow’ is the first in a new series of DJ-led mix albums and somehow sees Lawrence capturing his inimitable energy behind the decks on wax, live from the superb Gaudi Arena club in Moscow. Ripping his way through a two CD showcase of underground trance, the US legend gives a master class in starting a party.

Hour One mixes the likes of Dan Stone’s hard hitting stomper of a track ‘Made in Bahrain’ and Vibrasphere’s euphoric trancer ‘Landmark’ with scorching, ferocious synths from Basic vs Echotek’s ‘Mind Factor’. Hour Two unleashes the legendary John 00 Fleming’s anthemic collaboration with Lawrence on ‘Beyond the Limit’ swiftly followed by the pulsing bass line and driving melody of ‘Rasa Lila’. Former head of Tidy Trax, Lee Haslam, also features as he embarks on his first foray in to straight up trance with the bouncy and energetic tracks ‘The Future’ and ‘Checkmate’.

Once an outsider in a scene dominated by European and UK DJs, Christopher Lawrence is now considered one of the key global players in international dance music, receiving numerous awards. Described as the “biggest DJ in the USA” by Radio One, Christopher is most definitely America’s leading dance music export, playing tough techno trance sets on the main stage of the world’s biggest festivals and superclubs. He has played the famed Coachella festival more than any other DJ, and is the only US DJ to have been invited to headline all three of the inaugural Ministry of Sound, Cream and Gatecrasher tours of America.
Since its creation in 1993, Gatecrasher has rapidly become the UK's most outstanding and influential dance club and youth culture brand, changing the face of club culture globally.

From ground-breaking events such as the Millennium Eve at the Don Valley Stadium, where 25,000 people saw in the New Year to the block rocking beats of the Chemical Brothers and the 50,000 capacity Summer Sound System festivals in Oxfordshire through to the hugely successful Gatecrasher Ibiza Live at Eden last summer, this global institution keeps going from strength to strength, with this its first album release of the year.

2007 sees a series of events kicking of with Crasher who are set to take the roof off Media (Nottingham) on Saturday 3rd March with a stunning global broadcast, which is set to be beamed across 50 countries at laser-light speed with BBC Radio 1's Judge Jules at the controls.

In the world of international dance music, Christopher Lawrence has carved himself out as a true leader and with superclub Gatecrasher at the helm, ‘Made in Moscow’ looks destined to become a must-have for all trance fans.

Seavey, Aaron Michael age 30 of Stanton passed away unexpectedly on Friday April 20th in Las Vegas where he lived. He had a heart bigger than he was. He had a love of music and all things crazy and strange. He was happiest when making others laugh.

This is a mix he wanted me to do for him. Sadly he never got it because I was going to send it to him after the show on Friday.

Juliana Lee Air Date January 12, 2007

Since 1999, Juliana Lee has been a DJ, and an avid part of the west coast electronic
scene. She was a resident DJ at Insomnia, formerly one of LA's longest running afterhours. Since then, she has packed dancefloors locally and internationally. In the US, Juliana Lee played her energetic, unique sets at venues including The Mor, Spundae and Club Ice, where she was one of three finalists for Paul Oakenfold's DJ competition featured on the tv show "The Club".
She headlined Transonik's California Sessions tour in Chile, South America and performed at the Miami Winter Music Conference.
With some very tasty tracks and enthusiasm, Juliana eagerly returns to Riders of the Plastic Groove for her first public appearance in over a year.
